On Saturday, March 14, 2026, the legendary The Sattalites will take the stage at Lee’s Palace for a special tribute to the golden era of Lovers Rock — reggae’s most soulful and romantic movement. The evening will also feature special guest vocalists Tony Anthony and Jason Wilson, with DJ Jay NuFunk and MC SunRay Grennan rounding out the lineup.
This one-night celebration will spotlight timeless selections made famous by iconic artists including Alton Ellis, Phyllis Dillon, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, and Freddie McGregor, among others. Audiences can expect rich vocal harmonies, full horn section, steady grooves, and the emotional storytelling that defined Lovers Rock in the 1970s.
Emerging from the UK Caribbean community, Lovers Rock blended classic Jamaican rhythms with soul-inspired vocals and love-centered lyrics, bringing intimacy and warmth to reggae’s global sound. The March 14 performance will honour that legacy while delivering the high-energy musicianship and authenticity that have made The Sattalites a cornerstone of Canadian reggae culture.
Founded in Toronto in 1981 by Jo Jo Bennett, Fergus Hambleton, and Joe Isaacs, The Sattalites began as a music school in the city’s Little Jamaica neighbourhood before evolving into one of Canada’s most successful and enduring reggae bands. Their 1985 self-titled debut album featured the hit single “Wild” and launched extensive touring across Canada, the United States, and Jamaica. The group are two-time JUNO Award winners (1990, 1993) and remain vital ambassadors of reggae music in Canada. The band includes acclaimed vocalist Hermina George and accomplished drummer Daniel Barnes
