Grammy-nominated funk and jazz icons Lettuce return to Toronto for the first time since 2016 with the release of their new album Cook. Presented by MRG Live, the show takes place this Wednesday, August 27 at Annabel’s Music Hall, featuring special guest DJ Alister Johnson. Tickets via AdmitOne, and include admission to the CNE. Known for their high-energy performances, Lettuce brings a genre-blending sound that fuses funk, soul, jazz, rock, and hip-hop into an electrifying live experience.
Their latest album Cook, released on their own Lettuce Records, showcases the band’s most adventurous work yet. Recorded at Colorado Sound and mixed by Ryan Zoidis with Grammy-nominated engineer Jesse O’Brien, the record reflects Lettuce’s global influences and collaborations, from orchestral arrangements with the Colorado Symphony to tours with Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA and reggae legend Ziggy Marley. Cook delivers everything from symphonic depth to gritty funk tributes to James Brown and Tower of Power, alongside fresh new grooves like “Storm’s Coming” and “Breathe.” With this album, Lettuce marks a new era of creativity, pairing their music with wine releases, recipes, and a renewed mission to bring people together through funk.
