Following the momentum of the amazing free Disco, Funk, & House Music\u00a0community picnic concerts that drew 5,000 people for the past 3 summers, Toronto’s\u00a0Groovin\u2019 in the Park<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>now\u00a0Grooving\u00a0in the Living Room<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0will continue to celebrate the local house music community and feature virtual performances by Chicago House Music Legend\u00a0Roy Davis Jr.<\/strong>\u00a0alongside local favorites\u00a0Jason Palma\u00a0<\/strong>(Footprints, Higher Ground Radio), DJ Yogi\u00a0<\/strong>(United Soul), Farbsie Funk\u00a0<\/strong>(Make it Funky), No Wahala DJs<\/strong>\u00a0and more.

Presented by\u00a0NuFunk Concerts, United Soul, Touch, Ritmo, Mixed Signals Music, Fusicoloy<\/strong>,\u00a0Do Right Music\u00a0<\/strong>as a part of the\u00a0Beaches Jazz Festival<\/strong>, past performers include\u00a0DJ Spinna\u2019s WONDER-FULL, Tortured Soul, Tush, Soul Motivators, Footprints DJs, Ritmo Collective, Mike Gibbs, DJ Quesquecest\u00a0<\/strong>and the city\u2019s rich dance community



Roy\u00a0Davis\u00a0Jr.<\/strong>\u00a0is, in no uncertain terms, a legendary DJ and producer from Chicago who has helped to define electronic music. His self titled soul-electronic sound is a hybrid of garage, disco, r&b, house, hip hop and soul and it has graced everything from underground imprints to major league labels since way back in the 1990\u2032s, including the likes of Defected, Strictly Rhythm, King Street Sounds, XL Recordings and Universal, Sony and Warner Brothers.\u00a0As a DJ\u00a0Roy\u00a0Davis\u00a0Jr. commands dance-floors and festival stages all over the world with his tight and masterful mixing at places like Smart Bar in Chicago, Yellow in Japan and Fabric in London. Initially turned on to the possibilities of dance music by DJ Pierre, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Marshall Jefferson, and Lil\u2019 Louis,\u00a0Roy\u00a0started spinning himself at the age of 12 and during the early 19902 was asked to work as and A&R scout for Strictly Rhythm in New York. Of course, you can\u2019t mention\u00a0Roy\u00a0Davis\u00a0Jr. without mentioning\u00a0\u201cGabriel<\/a>,\u201d released in 1996 on Large Music out of Chicago.\u00a0 Fast forward to now and\u00a0Roy\u00a0still remains one of the worlds most prolific DJ\u2019s & producers in the history of house music. Once again returning to what\u00a0Roy\u00a0loves most, continuing to push boundaries with his DJ sets and ongoing production projects.

In 2019, Roy was inducted into the Godfather of House Music\u2019s Frankie Knuckles DJ Hall Of Fame at Chicago\u2019s Chosen Few Picnic in front of 15,000 people.<\/strong><\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
